Morning: Ximeding street
Afternoon: Taipei 101
Evening: Ximending street
View from Taipei 101 |
The initial plan was to go to get a prepaid card with data, Taipei 101, elephant mountain for sunset view and to Ximending night market.
We woke up early at 7am, because we were used to our physical alarm clock waking up at 7am. Plan changes with weather, and of course we need to be flexible. So we set off at 9am walking towards Ximen station (西门站). Along the way there was too much delicious food that we stopped to eat almost every 5 minute. By the time we reach the station, we are well fed. Haha! There are more to these, but I didnt get to capture pictures on time.
The food we ate along the way to Ximen station. These were all located in Ximen old street (西门老街)
This is called "Jian jiao", to be translate as fried dumplings. The dumplings were filled with meat and cabbage. It's awesome to get to eat dumplings anywhere in the streets of Taiwan. |
Pineapple tarts from Tai He (太和传统饼) |
Every biscuit that I bought was really delicious, it is not too sweet and it is crispy even after a few weeks. You can get more information from their website here. |
Add: 47, Chengdu Rd., Taipei City
Tel: (02) 2331-2772, 2331-2091
My initial plan was to go to Da An (大安) to try out this Yong he Tou Jiang, because the reviews online was high. but when I was walking down the streets in Ximending, I saw their shop and without any hesitate walk towards it. Personally, the You tiao is oily, but it is still better than the ones in M'sia. Give it a try. I do not have the address, but I found this online.Hopefully is the right one. You can always ask around for directions. Taiwan people are friendly :)
Drop by YongHe Dou Jiang (永和豆漿), in which they are famous for their "you Tiao" (油条) & soya. |
Before we drop by Taipei 101, we went to Maokong (猫空)since we thought we have much time to spent.
But unfortunately Maokong was closed due to maintenance. This place is worth to visit according to the reviews online and also the advertisement all along the MRT station.
FYI, Maokong is closed on every Monday, so do avoid planning on Mondays.
We then proceeded to the Taipei 101, take the MRT straight to the station "Taipei 101".
Before getting there, do remember to get the Easy card to travel easier. It is also cheaper compared to buying individual tickets for every stop. You can refer to the must do list I've posted here.
The main entrance and purchase of tickets could be done on level 5, the ticket price per entry is NTD 500 (RM 50). It is open daily from 9am to 10pm.
We got ours at discounted price NTD 450 each because we applied for youth travel card, if you do not have one, No worries, you can show them your student card to obtain discounts.
The escalator will then bring you to 89th floor, do remember to get one of these audio guide for free, this played an important role to me. It helps me understand the whole function of Taipei 101 and scenery I'm seeing from 89th floor.
Yes, the view is awesome. To me, it is worth the price because i get to understand every view and scenery I'm seeing from the window |
After the 89th floor of scenery viewing, you can get to level 90th to feel the breeze and height of this building. Yes, the picture is blur, but for memory sake, we shall keep this. |
Oh yeah! we conquer Taipei 101 @ level 90. |
We were lucky to be able to get to this level to view the scenery from this floor. After we view, it started pouring and they closed this level due to safety reasons. |
And of course, I did not missed out to write some beautiful postcards home. |
After all the venture in Taipei 101, it was almost evening, we got down to the 1st floor of Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐) and gave this xiao long bao(小笼包)a try. Their review is also top in the list. To be honest, after trying these xiao long bao, the street food version of xiao long bao couldn't beat these.
Tip: Yes, it is definitely slightly expensive than the ones you can get on the streets
hey xiao long baos, I miss you! |
We got ourselves 2 trays just to try out, the thickness of the skin is just well done that you wont feel sick of it. |
There was a "Love" sculpture just in front of the building as well. |
Our initial plan was to walk over to Elephant mountain (象山) to view the sunset, but the weather was not treating us good. So we went back to Ximending to rest. if anyone have pictures to share for Xiang Shan, I'm more than contented to share the joy of viewing with you :)
We got back for food again!
The 蚵仔煎, oyster omelette |
They call this 猪肉蘑菇艮,i think so, I forgotten the full name. It is soup that fills with pork and mushroom. Thumbs up! |
The shop we had the oyster omelette and soup was an authentic shop along the streets of Ximending, too bad it was crowded for us to capture pictures. |
Direct translation, "Big intestine wrap small intestine" HAHA! It sausage wrap in glutinous rice. Not bad, but too oily for me.
|
We had another round of goose meat, it is really too nice and delicious. |
Dont forget to try "chou dou fu" 臭豆腐, I couldn't take the smell, if given for free, i would not take it too. |
Being so full after so much intake of food, but it is all worthy. |
The last food we had was "lu wei" 卤味,yes this is the famous one that people talks about online. It is good, rating 3 out of 5. The rating is lower because it was not hot and a little too salty. |
To end my post with a panaroma view of Ximending (西门町) Hualien city for the 3rd day here. |
