Hey yo! continue with Day 6 & 7 of our journey.Do check my Day 5 post for more details of our 13 stations journey. We woke up early and continue our journey to Beitou (北投), DanShui station (淡水站) and Shilin Night market (士林夜市).
We dawn upon the small stall near our Minsu to have some Xiao Long Bao (小笼包)& Noodles.
We then took the MRT from ZhongShan station (中山站) to Xinbeitou station (新北投站), it is the last station of the red line. You can just ask your way around if you dont know the way to the stations from your Minsu.
Once you've arrived the station, there is a few tourist attraction for you to visit. I guess there is more to the list, you have any you can share with me too :) I only got to visit #1,2,3, the library was closed for renovation that day.

We had a great experience here, we were not allowed to capture any pictures. There is bath area provided(without heater). No towel or soap is provided. Do remember to read the rules to bath in the hot spring before entering the hot spring. Because the locals there are very particular with the rules, such as hair need to be tied before entering the pool, and compulsory to wear swimwear, wash legs before entering the pool and etc.

We got to wear the same cap and shirt that day, so we took a chance to keep this as memory. |
Once we arrived we just tuck in, so the picture was not pretty too. This was Bian Dang (便当) which is only NTD 50, so cheap! |
So we decided to walk on foot to the DanShuiOld street (淡水老街)for shopping and more eating. But it was raining heavily, but we had fun with our raincoats. |
The weather was not good, so we didn't go as per our schedule to the Fisherman Wharf. |
If you ask me what is delicious/ must eat food in Dan Shui, here is my list.
1. Iron Eggs (铁蛋)
2. Ice creams (天霸王霸淇淋)
3. Niu Zha Tang (牛轧糖) - A type of candy made from cow's milk.
4. Ah Gei/ Arcade (阿给)- The red food in the picture below. It is like Yong Tau fu that contains glass noodles inside.
5. Fishball soup 魚丸湯
6. Fried/BBQ squid.cuttle (炸花枝/烤花枝)
7. Peppery biscuit - contains pork marinated with pepper(胡椒饼) . I personally prefer the biscuits in Raohe night market, which will be in my Day 7 post.
Since it was raining, we got back to our minsu earlier and headed to Shilin Night Market. We left Danshui around 5pm, and we need to get down from Taipei main station. By the time the train is reaching Taipei station. The train is super pack with people! If possible, try to avoid off office hours.
Many people said that the night market is too commercialize and the food is rather expensive. But for me, it is a great night market to check it out, it is the biggest night market with alot of street food and shopping paradise.Let the pictures show you, I didnt get to capture all the food I've eaten, but as far I can remember, the list of unique and delicious food to me is here.
1. BBQ Quail Eggs
2. Fried milk
3. Papaya Milk Shake
4. Mi Sua
5. Fried chicken chop
6. BBQ beef cubes
And dont forget to get a chance to play the mini games! It's challenging enough :) |
